Laxmi Vilas Palace: Laxmi Vilas Palace is one of the most magnificent buildings located within the city. The palace has been built by Maharaja Sayaji Rao III in an Indo-Sarcenic style. The palace contains a collection of old armour as well as bronze and marble sculptures.
Sayaji garden: Sayaji Gardens, popularly known as Kamati Baug, is the largest garden in Western India, spreading over 45 hectares of land. Sayaji Gardens, as the name suggests is dedicated to Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III. This was built in the year 1879 on the river Vishwamitri and it comprises of a large spectrum of flora, with more than 99 species of trees to its name.
Vadodara Museum and Picture Gallery: This scenic and impressive was built in 1894 AD by the Gaekwads. Vadodara Museum and Picture Gallery is host to umpteen numbers of relics relating to a wide spectrum of fields right from archeology to geology.Amongst the notable display, you can view the 109 miniature paintings of the Mughal times, a Persian version of Mahabharata specially commissioned by Mughal Emperor Akbar, 11th century Shiva Natraj amongst others.
Aurobindo Ashram: Aurobindo Ashram was built as a residence to Aurobindo Ghose who was the private secretary to the then Maharaja of Baroda. During this period, Aurobindo Ghose was also the Professor of English and vice-principal of Baroda College. The bungalow has now been refurbished into an ashram that hosts of a library of Aurobindo literature, a study room and a sales emporium.
EME Temple: EME Temple Vadodara also known as Dakshinamurthy temple is one of the most popular holly shrines in the entires state of Gujarat. This Temple, was built by the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) Corps. Lord Dakhshinamurthi is worshipped in the temple. The temple is one of its kinds as it depicts five main religions of India. The temple has army style architecture and is a pleasant sight.
Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park: The world heritage sites of Champaner and Pavgadh are a major reason of tourists flocking to Vadodara. Champaner-Pavagadh Archaeological Park, which UNESCO designated a World Heritage Site in 2004. The Park comprises of umpteen number of splendid architectural wonders consisting of both Hindu & Islamic styles of design.
Kirti Mandir: Kirti Mandir, or the Temple of Fame, is situated near the Vishwamitri Bridge towards the north of Maharaja Fateh Singh Rao Gaekwads statue. Shaped like the alphabet E, this stone building is characteristic of domes, terraces and balconies.It was built in 1936 as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Maharaja.
Nazarbaug Palace: One of the oldest monuments of Vadodara, Nazarbaug Palace was the royal abode of the Gaekwad’s clan. Made in white-stucco, this palace was the repository of the jewels of the Gaekwad family. The palace also owned barrels of solid gold and silver guns, each of which weighs more than 100 kg.
